Community Development Through Polytechnics (CDTP)
CDTP Scheme is running in 06 Govt. Polytechnics namely Sundernagar, Hamirpur, Rohru, (W)Kandaghat, Kangra &Ambota since the academic session 2009-10.
It is 100% Central Sponsored Scheme and the grant is being received from the Govt. on installment basis. This is a Direct Central Assistance scheme under which Recurring and Non-Recurring Grant is being provided by MHRD to the selected institutions/Polytechnics for implementation of the scheme.
This scheme is especially for the advancement of the local community who are living in backward areas and unable to get the professional and technical education.
These Polytechnics provide skill training in various Engineering and Non-Engineering courses i.e. Plumbing & Sanitation, Domestic Electrician, Computer Soft Application, Embroidery, Cutting & Tailoring, Domestic Electrician, Wood Work/Carpentry, Electrician, House Wiring etc. with the duration of 03 to 06 months through main & extension centers as per need of the local community. No Course Fee/Caution Money/Securities is charged from the trainees/ beneficiaries under any circumstances. The services under the scheme are provided to the needy people, free of cost.
Under the CDTP Scheme 18,285 persons have been trained till date.
